Caught in the vicious cycle of neglect, this beautiful buckskin mare, Athena, and her striking foal, Gaea, suffered greatly. Severe emaciation, heavy parasite infestation, unkempt hooves, and poor dental care all contributed to their misery. Athena is a very calm and docile mare who is willing to please. She went to her forever home in August 2009. 10 years later, Athena is back at the rescue through no fault of her own. The unexpected death of one of her adopters meant Athena needed to be returned to the rescue. She has not been ridden in years and will need to be evaluated.
