My little ponies
By Jean Robb -
Rainbow Meadows adopter
I have had a life time dream of having a
miniature horse or pony like my dad’s pony that we had as kids -
a silver dapple with silver mane and tail. I never thought that
it would actually happen. One day I found out about Rainbow
Meadows rescue from friends and checked it out. I saw a little
horse that surely was my dream horse and went about adopting
her.
We brought Delilah home in February 2009. She was a
little round wooly bundle of joy. I would spend hours with her,
grooming her silver mane and tail and enjoying just having her,
but then I felt guilty that she might need a friend her own
size. One day I got another call about a little horse needing to
be adopted. So in April we brought little Wendy home. Wendy was
smaller and darker than Delilah, but such a cute little horse.
Wendy was not as trusting as Delilah - who knows what might have
occurred in her life to cause this?
Today she and Delilah are like sisters,
sometimes loving each other and sometimes not. It is a joy
watching as they run and play in the pasture and hearing them
nicker when I come outside. We have had hours of pleasure
watching them and being with them. It’s amazing watching them
interact with adults and children walking and riding their bikes
by the pasture.
I can only say THANK YOU to Rainbow Meadows for entrusting
their care to us. I’m looking forward to retiring and spending
more time being with them. I can’t think of anything I’d rather
be doing. |
